 The
5" RT2 Rotary table |

The RT3 spindle nose Rotary table |
Model Engineering Services has designed and developed two rotary tables with the model engineer in mind. All the kits are
complete and are supplied with the gear and worm finished. All the
machining needed to finish the kit can be achieved on an ML7 type lathe and a
drilling machine. The accurate setting and any subsequent take up of wear
on the worm and gear is easily adjusted by an eccentric bush. By using the
worms helix angle to advantage the hand wheel falls below the table top giving
an infinite unobstructed working diameter. The Rotary table models
are.....
 | RT2 This model has a 5" dia table of conventional
appearance. The table top has "Tee" slots already cast in to save on
machining time and both table and base are cast iron. This table
has an additional feature of being able to be mounted in a vertical plane,
when mounted as such it may be necessary to provide a tailstock
support. M.E.S. can provide castings and drawings of such a support if
needed. The worm gear on this table is 60:1 and therefore one turn on
the hand wheel is 6 degrees. |
 | RT3 This table is rather unconventional as instead of a
"Tee" slotted table the RT3 is fitted with a screwed MT2 mandrel
to match that of the constructors lathe. It is then possible for work
to be held in a chuck or faceplate and moved from the lathe to a drilling /
milling machine without disturbing the work. Another feature of this
table is the ability to disengage the drive so that the table can be rotated
freely before or between machining operations. The main body of the
RT3 is an aluminum casting which is pre machined on one side to a width of 1
9/16ths in order to swing in the Myford lathe gap for completing the
machining. |
The kits include all screws, knobs and are supplied
together with a set of dimensioned drawings and working instructions. |
